Compendium Profile on Cultural Policy in Syria 2018
Dec 2018The Cultural Policy in the Arab Region (ARCP) programme has published its Summary of Updates to the Compendium Profile on Cultural Policy in Syria for 2018. The updates reflect changes in law, legislation and practices related to cultural policy in Syria. The survey was first published in 2010 as part of the Cultural Policy Programme launched by Al Mawred Al Thaqafy in 2009. Ettijahat – Independent Culture updated the survey in 2013 and 2014 and has done so again for 2018.
The compendium on cultural policy in Syria aims to list laws, regulations and mechanisms which guide cultural work and artistic practices in Syria.
The eight main chapters of the compendium are as follows:
- Cultural context from a socio-economic perspective
- Decision-making and administration
- General objectives and principles of cultural policy
- Current issues and debate in cultural policy development
- Overview of the main legal provisions in the field of culture
- Financing culture
- The roles of existing cultural institutions and new partnerships
- Supporting creativity and participation
